Another PDP heavyweight Officially Defects To APC
Senator Musiliu
Obanikoro, Today tuesday, June 20, announced that he had officially dumped the
once ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress
(APC).
Reports have been making
the round that Obanikoro, a Former Minister of State for Defence who ran in
2011 as governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos state and was skimmed out of
the 2015 race would soon pitch his political tent with the ruling party.
Koro, as he is fondly called, is said to have been making
overtures to leaders of the ruling party as part of efforts towards his joining
the APC. Signs of his acceptance in the ruling APC party came when he attended
a town hall meeting called by he national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola
Ahmed Tinubu and this was seen by some party bigwigs as positive nod coming
from Tinubu,
Close Sources however said that Tinubu initially was reluctance to
Obanikoro’s return to his political camp, but was pressured in forgiving koro, who
deserted Tinubu’s political camp over a decade ago to join the then ruling PDP.
But the national leader soft pedalled on his stance after the former Minister
reached out to some prominent Lagosians to intercede on his behalf before
Tinubu.
“And when he met Asiwaju, he apologized
profusely for his past misdeeds and political miscalculations. You know Asiwaju
has a large heart, he forgave him and gave a positive nod to his quest to join
the APC.
