THEY WANT TO PULL HER DOWN

Despite the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is backing her nomination for the position of Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) some evil-minded Nigerians in government (as seen in reports making the rounds especially in social media) are kicking against her choice and directing their missiles at the organisation just to frustrate her chances.
She is no other a personality than Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Our mother, daughter, sister, cousin, niece and friend. A Nigerian every sound-minded Nigerian should be very proud of.
Why are we like this in this part of the world? Why do we pull ourselves down? Is she not qualified for the job? Isn't she arguably the most qualified Nigerian for the job? Won't it do Nigeria nay Africa great honour that the first female DG of WTO will be a Nigerian?
Those who are working against her emergence are doing it for various nefarious and mundane reasons ranging from ethnic or tribal sentiments to religious consideration. Some even cook up the excuse that she worked under the PDP governments of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.....And so bloody what?
When Akinwunmi Adesina of the African Development Bank faced challenges recently which threatened his position as president of the continent's apex financial institution, it was discovered that some of his attackers who equally kicked against him were Nigerians. So irritating, nauseating and disgusting. This is nothing but political sorcery or witchcraft.
It took the full weight of Buhari to wade off these enemies within who went about with unsellable song of Adesina got to that office through the PDP government. We all could see the clear myopic and unpatriotic attitude of these elements among us otherwise, one would have asked, what has political party got to do with the appointment of a qualified Nigerian into an exalted global or continental body which rubs off on all Nigerians technically. Must everything here be politicised?
In more civilised climes....tribe or religion or political parties are not considerations in service to one's fatherland. Once you are a technocrat of international repute, you are invited to come and work for the upliftment of your country. But we play dirty politics with virtually everything here.
Was it not a pride to all Nigerians that the same Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala we ignored here after or for serving in Jonathan's administration is the one, South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed into his presidential economic advisory council?
Let's stop the pull-him-down (PHD) syndrome. Let's support our own irrespective of his or her ethnic background, faith or class. A good Nigerian is an ambassador of all. He or she is our pride for as long he or she is representing well. Let's appoint the best brains and hands into government to speed up development and bring about a better life for all.
Soar on....soar higher Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. True patriotic Nigerians are behind you! The Lord is behind you!
