OPEN LETTER TO GOV EL-RUFAI

 OPEN LETTER TO GOV EL-RUFAI

Your Excellency,

May this letter meet you hale and hearty. I pray you find time out of your very busy schedule to read through....that is if, your media aides deem it necessary to bring it to your attention sir.
I am a concerned Nigerian. I am very worried and equally pained like millions of other citizens about the endless and mindless killings going on in Southern Kaduna in the past few weeks.
Many have termed it pogrom while some tag it genocide. It is more worrisome when it appears little or nothing is done to stop these killings which is taking a daily occurrence. The killers seem unstoppable and unchecked even as the security agents seem helpless just like the victims.
Your Excellency, your election into the exalted seat or position of governor in 2015 was on account of your brilliant job as Minister of the FCT under the then, President Olusegun Obasanjo administration.
Kaduna people were proud of their son and wanted him to replicate this good work in his state. They voyed en mass for you sir. It is left for them to judge if, they are satisfied or convinced with governance under your watch as very good since then till date.
By the end of your first term in office, you boasted of having retired four political godfathers who were part of the political crises in the state. You even lectured Lagosians in one of your visits on how they can successfully retire political godfathers.
But surprisingly Your Excellency, your state is yet to know peace. Many point to political issues as major cause of the problem. It is either, they are telling lies against you or you have not really addressed the issues or the issues are beyond politics or beyond your control. If they are beyond your control, the law permits you to beckon on the President as your last option.
In your first term, you once tackled the issue of cattle rustling which was discovered as one of the major reasons for the crisis then. You told the world how you met with some groups and promised to settle them of their cattle involved in the whole crises.
Few years on, the problem persists.... Sadly, it has degenerated into an uncontrollable situation even as your state is gradually being described as a killing field..
This is very sad and most unacceptable especially in the face of your body language which suggests that you are eyeing the keys to Aso Villa as successor to President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.
Who knows it could just be true like one of your aides puts it that, your political opponents are at work just to frustrate your efforts thereby rubbishing your future political ambition. Your aide claimed that the killings are politically motivated.
Your Excellency, if this is true then, you need or have to be proactive in proving that really your government cares for all the people of Kaduna irrespective of their ethnic group, religious affinity or social standing....more so, that you as a sitting governor have all it takes sweep away the killers and their perceived sponsors causing distraction for your government.
Your Excellency, charity they say, begins at home. To convince Nigerians that you have the capacity of leading them as president, you must secure the support of the people of your state who you presently govern. They should be the ones campaigning for you or on your behalf on the basis of your performance as governor when the time comes.
Your Excellency, critics are viewing the Southern Kaduna mayhem from both points of ethnic cleansing and religious extremism. If this is wrong then, you need to prove it to all and sundry.
You need to put your feet on the ground and stop the killings once and for all. You need to put an end to this madness which is painting a picture of a lawless state without sound and God fearing leadership.
Your Excellency, you must change the narrative now. Enough is enough. The killers must be stopped, possibly arrested and made to face the law.
It is sad that life is becoming very worthless in Southern Kaduna. Remember, Your Excellency, the world is watching.
Accept the assurances of my warmest regard sir.
From concern Nigerian
