Arsenal 'complete' signing of Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac
Arsenal New Man Kolasinac
Arsenal
have completed a deal to sign Schalke's left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free
transfer, according to reports in Bosnia.
Kolasinac has been on Arsene
Wenger's radar for some time, with the embattled Frenchman viewing him as
serious competition for Nacho Monreal's starting spot, and now Bosnian
news outlet Reprezentacija are claiming a pre-contract agreement
is now in place.
The 23-year-old left-back, who has played 18 times for Bosnia, was
the subject of a failed £5.3million bid from Chelsea in January while
Manchester City, Juventus and Liverpool have also posted an interest.
Arsenal
spoke to his representatives initially in January and have made further contact
since, with a deal now said to be done to the extent that Kolasinac has already
picked out which number he will wear at the Emirates.
Kolasinac, who was born in Germany, has a German passport and
represented the country from U18 to U20 level, can also play at centre-back or
as a defensive midfielder.
His parents hail from Bosnia, who he last represented in a 5-0
victory over Gibraltar in March.
In all he has played 116 times for Schalke - his only professional
club - and has scored four goals.
