OSIMHEN COULD BE THE GREATEST OF ALL VICTORS

●Can We Just Encourage This Boy?
We have had several players with the name Victor in our national team....Victor Igbinoba, Victor Ikpeba, Victor Agali, Victor Nsofor, Victor Moses among others. Incidentally most of them are strikers or forwards. and they have contributed immensely to the history, development and glory of our national team and our football in their separate eras and different ways. Indeed, they distinguished themselves excellently.

Some made it to the World Cup, some could not. Some won AFCON others did not. Some won African Footballer of the Year award, others could not. Some won Olympics gold medal, others did not. The fate of all differ individually. But like they say, the beautiful ones are not yet born.
We now have one Victor Osimhen. He is not a new nor strange name. To many of us, he is like every other Victor we have had. It is just a matter of time, he would leave the scene just like the other Victors before him. Sure, he would but perhaps if we pay more attention to this chap, he could give us more than the other Victors had given to us in the past individually or even collectively.
Perhaps we just have to encourage this Victor more than we did to others before him to propel him to his finest form. Such or that form could be the turnaround we crave for in Super Eagles attack..
Victor Osimhen has every semblance of Late Rashidi Yekini. He is leggy. He scores with little chance. He scores freely on a good day. He carries the burden of the team's attack on him shoulders. He bells the cat when the chips are down. He has the presence in front of any defence....and he is indeed a very prolific or lethal finisher. Perhaps with time, Osimhen will mature to become more aggressive, adventurous, deadlier and more rugged like the Late Goalsking, Yekini. This will come with more games in the national team.
Osimhen holds the record of most goals at the cadet level of the FIFA World Cup. His move to Wolfsburg should have been his big break but injuries and lack of playing time slowed him down. He moved to Belgium on loan where he has rediscovered his form and has been banging in the goals.
He just showed us what the future has in stock for him (with his hattrick against Libya) if only we can encourage him. Yes, if, only we can encourage him. Like other young talented players, Victor Osimhen has the potential of leading Super Eagles attack someday if only we don't continue with this talk of, "he is a small boy", "he is too fragile" and "he is inexperience" among other loose comments and excuses. Those with the so called experience couldn't shoot us beyond the group stage in Russia 2018 World Cup.
The future belongs to the likes of Osimhen as proven in the Russia 2018 World Cup through Kylian Mbappe's sterling performance.
Let's just encourage this boy! He has age on his side and could achieve more than his predecessors did achieve....That should be our collective dream, hope and prayers....Let's encourage this Victor!
