Evans the Kidnapper Finally Gets New Lawyer
Billionaire Suspected kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also
popularly called Evans, on Friday finally got the services of a new lawyer
after 108 days. This is in compliance with an Igbosere High Court,Lagos which
asked him to get one after his former lawyers withdrew their services’.
Justice Adedayo Akintoye had on April 10 ordered Evans to
get a legal representative before the next court sitting because absence of his
legal team had stalled procceedings three consecutive times.
On January 31, his former lawyers Olukoy Ogungbeje and Chino
Obiagwu (SAN) withdrew from the case following series of disagreements; Evans
had been without a counsel since then.
Evans, however has now acquired the services of R.B.C Eke to
defend him in court, who is now the suspect’s third lawyer since his
arraignment in 2017.
The suspected kidnapper is facing a seven-count charge of
murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to kidnap and selling of firearms
alongside Joseph Ikenna Emeka, 29, Chiemeka Arinze, 39, Udeme Frank Upong, 43, brought
against them by the Lagos State Government.
In the first charge, Evans is standing trial alongside
Joseph Emeka, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba.
In the second charge, he is standing trial alongside Joseph
Emeka, Linus Okpara and Victor Aduba.
