EKWEREMADU : SIGN OF THE TIMES

Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu surely is not the first senator or even politician that was assaulted or manhandled by "angry mob". We may be missing the point if we tie that show of shame in Nurenberg, Germany strictly around IPOB or his non alignment with the group even as that may be the crux of the matter.

Recall that sometime in 2017 a Senator was chased out of his constituency in the north when an irate mob started chanting "barawo, barawo"in hausa which mean thief, thief at him and few of his colleagues. He was saved by security operatives.

Two weeks after precisely on November 5, 2017 the member representing Dutsinma/Kurfi constituency at the House of Representatives, Danlami Muh’d Kurfi narrowly escaped death and lynching by youths of his own constituency.

The lawmaker was said to have been attacked by the youths who lost confidence in him over alleged several promises he made but yet to fulfill them.

Katsina State Gov, Bello Masari saved the lawmaker who hopped into one of the cars in the convoy of the governor to escape being lynched.

During the APC rally in Ikeja which went bloody (shortly before the last election), some political thugs prevented some politicians from entering into the Sky Power Ground venue of the rally. They chanted some very disturbing songs against the said politicians. In the end, this contributed to the near mayhem witnessed at that chaotic rally.

Perhaps we may be seeing Ekweremadu's unfortunate drama with IPOB as an IPOB thing but far from it, this could be part of the gathering storm....., and gathering very fast
Our politicians must watch it. Frustration as a result of bad governance is making push come to shove. The chicken seems to be coming to roast. The writing is becoming very clear on the wall. We can avoid the rains from this thick cloud. We have had enough troubles and pains as a nation. We don't need any further confusion.
This is not just about Ekweremadu or IPOB....It is about the feelings of the people towards their leaders. Enough said!!!
