Solskjaer Issues Man Utd Transfer Demand
Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer insists Manchester United must look to strengthen by signing players
this month - rather than losing them.
United
skipper Ashley Young was left out of the squad to play Manchester City on
Tuesday night amid speculation over a move to Inter Milan.
Young, 34,
is free to talk to clubs outside Europe with his contract expiring this summer
and talks over a switch to Milan have been opend.
No decision
has been made on his future but Solskjaer maintains he wants to keep hold of
his squad and bring in new faces before the transfer window closes.
"We
have got a few months left of the season and we can't weaken ourselves,"
he said.
"We
have got to strengthen ourselves if any movement is going to happen."
Solskjaer
insisted he knew nothing about Inter's proposed move for Young, who has been a
long-term target for boss Antonio Conte.
"I
don't know. You have got to ask Ash, Solskjaer said in his post-match press
conference.
"For
me, it is about focusing on the next game."
Solskjaer
admitted the first-half display against City was up there with the worst during
his tenure, with United trailing 3-0 at the break.
He added:
"From the first goal until half time we couldn’t cope with that setback.
We were running in between, the pressure didn’t work.
"We let
them play and our heads dropped. We made decisions we shouldn’t do and that
needed sorting at half time."
Marcus
Rashford gave the home side hope with a second-half strike ahead of the return
leg at the Etihad.
