Tahith Chong Signs New Man Utd Deal
Tahith
Chong has signed a new contract to stay at Man Utd .
The
20-year-old has been courted by several of Europe's top clubs, with his
contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Barcelona ,
Inter Milan and Juventus are
all interested in signing Chong on a free transfer, but it seems he is now set
to remain at Old Trafford.
United were
confident of tying Chong down to fresh terms despite him holding talks with
interested parties.
Chong's
agent, Erkan Alkan of Stellar Group, said: "There was a lot of interest,
we talked to big clubs, but Manchester United came up with a good
plan for Tahith.
The Dutchman's
form has been rewarded at international level, earning him call-ups to the
Netherlands under-21 side.
According to
reports, Chong has put pen to paper on a deal worth £30,000 per week.
Solskjaer
said back in November: "There are players we wanna get signed, of course.
And Tahith is a player we think is going to develop."
United are
also in discussions to extend the contract of Angel Gomes.
Meanwhile Arsenal could
reportedly swoop to sign United defender Chris Smalling in a £25million deal if
Roma are unable to fund a move.
Smalling has
impressed on loan at the Serie A club, but Roma are struggling to meet United's
price tag.
Gazette
dello Sport (via Express )
report that Tottenham have
also expressed an interest in the 30-year-old.
