Paul Pogba on the Bench as Bruno Fernandes Starts
Paul Pogba
has been named on the bench for Manchester United's Premier League clash with Tottenham.
Red Devils
boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has instead named Portugal international Bruno
Fernandes in midfield alongside Fred and Scott McTominay.
Pogba has
been out of action since Boxing Day after suffering a serious ankle injury,
which required surgery.
During
Pogba's time away Fernandes has established himself as one of the first names
on his manager's team-sheet, and he keeps his place despite the World Cup
winner's return.
In front of
the midfield trio are Daniel James and Anthony Martial, while England
international Marcus Rashford leads the lines.
"There
are many people eager to see us together," Fernandes told ESPN Brasil.
"Of course, we also want to play together to help the club win matches.
"We are
players who take risks. We try to assist, we try different things, and it can
be good for both of us. We have the ability to get to the box and score goals.
"We are
players who create many opportunities during the game, and that could increase
the number of big chances for Manchester United. I believe that with
Paul coming along, we will become even stronger."
But the
Portuguese may have to wait for the second half of the Spurs game to get his
wish, should Solskjaer decide to bring Pogba on.
