THE "SLAPPER" AND THE "SLAPPEE"

Akpabio sexually harassed me, so I slapped him,' says former NDDC ...

What could warrant a slap? I mean a dirty slap!

A slap from an adult to an adult. A slap from a woman to woman or on a man. A slap from a supposed mother to a father. A slap from somebody's wife to another woman's husband.

Slap could be real or fake. It could be hot or mild. It could be private or public. The Slap could be an assault or insult depending on the class, calbre or influence of both the slapper and the slappee or slapped. Slap could equally be an attack or an act or a form of defence.

But when it is not acting, it becomes worrisome especially when the "slapper" and the "slapped" or "slappee" are both top government functionaries. When the slapper is a subordinate to the slappee or slapped it becomes a wonder or mystery.

In this case, the slapper claimed that she was sexually harassed hence she used the slap as a self defensive mechanism. But is a common or ordinary slap  enough to wade off a desperate sexual harasser, particularly when he is the boss of the slapper. In our very peculiar environment, sadly, the boss always has or had his or her ways.

When the slappee starts speaking in tongues following the dirty slap he received which induced or caused the stupid talk of FOUR HUSBANDS of the slapper, you begin to wonder the correlation between sexual harassment allegation and four husbands revelation. Perhaps the slap was too hot or dirty to confuse the slappee. We hope he doesn't have or need to see or visit the doctor.

This slap has to be investigated for us to know if, it was a mere slap or the slapper had some "African substance" capable of enforcing one to talk of multiple husbands among other irrelevant things....on receiving the slap.

Indeed, the slap requires investigation for us to understand why a subordinate will be so bold or confident to slap or like we say in pidgin, sound her boss.

But was the slap private? If yes, why? What were they doing or where were they before the sounding took place? Or was it public? Who were or are the witnesses to testify that the boss and slappee got whacked with the wide palm by the slapper? Do we need any confirmation?

Indeed, a lot happens in the corridors of power. Like they say, the rich also cry. Power covers a lot including dirty slaps, wicked blows or punches, vicious shoves or pushes....brutal kicks and shocking slams among others.

Nigerians don't expect much to happen in this slapping drama especially as the presidency has been silent over the ugly development. Sure, it may be swept under the carpet like scores of such or similar occurrences in the corridors of power.....But we beg our government officials to please respect themselves and make governance honourable.

We don't need slaps....but sense! Slappers and slappees should behave themselves as public servants....and stop embarrassing government, governance and the country.

Please kindly pardon my grammar of "slapper and slappee". English is not my mother tongue. Lolz!
