Harry Maguire May Miss West Brom Clash Due To Injury
Harry
Maguire, the Manchester United captain could miss their return to Premier League
action this against West Brom after the defender suffered bruising to his foot
in England’s 4-0 win over Iceland.
The
27-year-old played on for the full 90 minutes at Wembley as goals from Declan
Rice, Mason Mount, and Phil Foden (2) sealed a comfortable Nations League
victory for the Three Lions.
But,
according to ESPN, Maguire complained to England’s medical staff about his foot
after the final whistle and United will assess the centre-back’s fitness at
their Carrington training complex on Thursday.
Victor
Lindelof is also in a race to be fit for Saturday’s clash with the Baggies
after he had to be replaced in the second half of Sweden’s defeat to France due
to a persistent back problem.
The
centre-half had been struggling with the issue during United’s win over Everton
before the international break and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be reluctant to
rush him back.
Axel
Tuanzebe looks likely to start at Old Trafford and United are hopeful Eric
Bailly could be fit to play alongside the youngster at the heart of the
defence.
A muscle problem has sidelined Bailly for well
over a month but the injury-prone Ivorian has made significant strides with his
recovery in recent days.
The Red
Devils could also be buoyed by the return of Alex Telles, who has been in
self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.
Telles is
yet to play a single minute in the English top flight following his summer move
from Porto and is expected to replace the injured Luke Shaw if he’s given the
all clear to face West Brom.
