Father Mbaka Reportedly ‘Missing’
Rev. Father
Ejike, the out spoken firebrand founder of Adoration Ministry Enugu is
reportedly missing, days after criticising President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Ohanaeze
Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, on Wednesday raised the alarm over the
whereabouts of the fiery Enugu priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka.
This was
followed by a revelation by the presidency that he was attacking Buhari because
he was refused a contract.
Ohanaeze
Youth Council has now claimed that the priest was missing.
In a
statement issued by the President-General of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, he said
Mbaka was last seen on Tuesday, adding that every effort to trace him had
failed.
“We have it
on good authority that his aides have neither seen nor heard from him since
Tuesday.
“Calls put
to his mobile line have also remained unanswered; this has now prompted us to
issue this alarm as we would not take it lightly should anything untoward
happen to him.
“We are
giving the Federal Government 48 hours to produce the priest; else they should
be ready to face Igbo youths. They were dining and wining with him all along
and now that he told the truth, they are no longer comfortable with him.
“Let nothing
happen to Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka. It will not be in anybody’s interest,” the
group warned.
According to
close aides of the cleric, “Today is the Wednesday programme, ‘E no dey again’,
if he doesn’t officiate, it will then be clear that something is wrong,” one of
them said.
But a source
who refused to be named disclosed that he was last seen yesterday, Tuesday,
when he departed to honour an invitation by his Bishop.
According to
report, following the apprehension, all the youths of the ministry have been
summoned to the Adoration ground.
While responding
to the allegation by the Presidency that he came to the villa seeking for
contract, Mbaka speaking on Sunday at the Adoration Ministry in Enugu confirmed
that he took three contractors to tackle insecurity during Buhari’s first term
not for himself.
According to
him, he had no personal relationship with the three men that he took to the
presidency.
He also said,
“In Nigeria, if you say the truth, they attack you. I’m not discouraged and
I’ve been waiting for them to challenge everything I said. Challenge the truth,
whether there is insecurity or not.
“Somebody
talked about giving me contracts and I started laughing. I’m not here to defend
any allegation.
“Buhari
government is not giving me money or contract. It is a laughable and childish
accusation. It is a shame to whoever is saying that and to the people he is
representing.
“The three
men Shehu talked about; the contract they asked for was for them not me. These
three men had gadgets, facilities to handle insecurity during the first term of
Buhari.
“They said
they had a platform to end insecurity in a month. I don’t know these people.
They just asked me to help them reach the government and I handed them over to
the government.
“These are
the three people they rejected their offer. I’m not begging them. Do they know
how many people I feed? I don’t have their number.
“Which
contract did they deny me of? Do they know how many widows and children I’m
taking care of?”
Mbaka warned
the presidency to stop attacking those who say the truth and tackle insecurity,
adding that even Garba Shehu, the presidential Spokesman can be killed by
bandits.
“Be careful
in your choice of words and be wise. If anybody says the truth, the person is a
terrorist. I do my charity without their support. I thank Ugwuanyi who has
created an enabling environment here for me.
“Garba Shehu
that is talking, the bandits can kill him too. No amount of security can save
them if things get worse.
“With the
support of the government of Enugu, God has given me the grace to do all my
projects. If I can be doing this, the federal government should do more.
In
their reaction the Department for State Security, DSS, has said that the
‘missing’ Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka is not in their custody.
The
spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunaya, in a statement stated in clear teams that
the service was not in possession of Fr. Mbaka.
“Rev Fr
Mbaka is not with the DSS. The DSS did not pick him up, please” Afunaya said
Meanwhile,
reports reaching us from Enugu say that a large protest is presently ongoing in
front of the Catholic Bishop’s court in Enugu where his supporters gathered,
chatting and asking Bishop Callistus Onaga to produce Fr. Mbaka.
He was
said to have got missing two days ago after he reportedly went to see the
Bishop.
