Insecurity: France Promises To Help Nigeria
The Franch
government has promised to help Nigeria overcome its insecurity challenges.
President of
France, Emmanuel Macron made this known during a bilateral meeting with
President Muhammadu Buhari, in France.
Macron
hosted the Nigerian leader on the sidelines of the Financing Africa Summit.
The French
President pledged his steadfast support for Nigeria and its people as they
confront the security challenges facing the country.
He added
that the French government will absolutely be there on the side of Nigeria and
it is willing to support everything to assist the country to overcome the
security threats.
Macron also
pledged to support Nigeria in confronting the challenges faced with COVID-19
vaccines.
President
Buhari, at the meeting, outlined the challenges facing Nigeria, as well as its
neighbours, and revealed the steps he has taken to reignite response to the
situation.
Buhari
stated that part of the steps taken is the appointment of the new Service
Chiefs.
He, however,
expressed the willingness of Nigeria to work with France and all international
partners to reign in the security challenges.
President
Buhari, therefore, thanked President Macron for agreeing to intensify the
existing partnership with Nigeria.
The two
leaders also committed their nations to work together to fight insecurity
bedeviling the Lake Chad basin area & the entire stretch of the Sahel
region.
