Solskjaer Stopped Ronaldo From Storming Down The Tunnel at Leicester Again

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘forced’ Cristiano Ronaldo to applaud the travelling Manchester United fans after he tried to storm down the tunnel at Leicester.

The Foxes brought United’s record away run to a crashing end as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men collapsed during a chaotic end to a thrilling clash.

Both sides were looking to return from the international break with a bang after recent struggles, with the visitors higher in the Premier League but under more intense scrutiny.

That focus will only increase after Leicester won 4-2 at a rocking King Power Stadium, when Jamie Vardy and substitute Patson Daka scored late to condemn United to a first away league defeat since January 2020.

The Daily Express reports Ronaldo attempted to head straight down the tunnel in dismay at the result at the full-time whistle, only for his boss to turn him back towards the fans.

The 36-year-old was equally disappointed against Everton before the international break and talkSPORT’s Andros Townsend admitted he was ‘muttering in Portuguese’ at the full time whistle.Proceedings don’t get much easier for the Red Devils, with a must win Champions League game against Atalanta followed up with a clash against bitter rivals Liverpool.

However, it is understood Solskjaer is not under pressure in the hot seat, despite the indifferent run of results.

TalkSPORT host Darren Ambrose believes United are going backwards right now and Ronaldo ‘may as well not play’.

He said: “At the moment, yes it seems like they are going backwards. The last three Premier League games, Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester –they have one point out of those three games. That isn’t Manchester United.

Even in the last few years when Jose was there that wouldn’t have happened. I don’t know what is going wrong there.

“They signed Sancho for £73million, Varane for nearly £50million and Ronaldo. If you don’t build your forward line around Ronaldo, he may as well not play.

“It was a poor game from him. Look at what Portugal do, they build the team around him. They are not playing to anyone’s strengths at the moment.”
