US-based Civil Engineer wants IGP to Carry out Unbiased Investigation On Egunaye’s Family
A Civil Engineer based in New Jersey, United States of America, Mr Olufemi Fasehun, is calling on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to investigate the criminal activities of Tajudeen Egunaye, Ayinde Sanni Egunaye, Mrs Mudirat Egunaye, Aare Tomori Williams, and other unidentified persons.
The alleged
criminal activities include stealing, breaking into a building and committing a
felony, malicious vandalization of property, stealing with violence, a threat
to life, harassment, intimidation, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace,
forcible entry, unlawful interference, and criminal trespasses on Mr Fasehun’s
property located at 10, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State.
In a letter
dated September 1, 2023, addressed to the IGP, Mr Fasehun’s lawyer
explains that his client’s father purchased the land in 1961 and built a house
on it. Before he died in 2004, he gave a power of attorney to Mr. Fasehun, his
only male child, to administer his estate in 2003. A family case arose from the
management of the estate, and the Lagos State High Court affirmed Mr Fasehun as
the owner of the property.
Mr.
Fasehun’s workers were arrested on the property on April 28, 2023, by a team of
police operatives led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Danko Shamakin.
They were later released on bail. Following this incident, the accused attacked
Mr Fasehun’s property four times, leading him to lodge a petition dated May 2,
2023.
The accused
persons filed a petition dated March 9, before the one initiated by Mr.
Fasehun, where they made an unfounded accusation against him. Despite their
claims of ownership, Mr Fasehun wants the police to investigate the matter and
prosecute whoever is found guilty.
Mr.
Fasehun’s case is based on sound evidence, including the deed of indenture
(title document) registered at the Ministry of Land of Western Nigeria in 1961
and the sale witnessed by the first defendant in the 1952 case of the Egunaye.
A survey was also lodged concerning the land and registered alongside the title
document on the same date in 1961.
Therefore,
we urge the IGP to take over the petitions at the General
Investigation Department and X-Squad Department at FCID Alagbon, Lagos, and
ensure an unbiased investigation is carried out on this matter. We believe that
justice must be served, and the perpetrators of these criminal acts must be
brought to book to help secure Mr. Fasehun’s property and prevent future
occurrences.
