Tinubu Orders Rescue Of Kidnap Victims, Destruction Of Terrorist Camps
President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify operations to rescue all kidnapped persons and eliminate terrorist and bandit camps across the country.
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), disclosed this on Thursday after a security meeting presided over by the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Musa said the meeting was convened to review the country's security situation, with service chiefs and heads of relevant security agencies in attendance.
According to the minister, Tinubu directed the security agencies to work together to locate and rescue all persons being held by kidnappers and other criminal groups.
He said the President also tasked the security chiefs with ensuring that Nigerians could exercise their voting rights without fear during the forthcoming elections.
The directive comes amid persistent security challenges in several parts of the country, including kidnapping, banditry and terrorist attacks.
The government has repeatedly promised to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve operational coordination and equip security agencies to confront the threats.
The latest order places renewed responsibility on the military, police and other security organisations to intensify their operations and deliver measurable results.
However, the effectiveness of the directive will ultimately depend on the agencies' ability to dismantle criminal networks, rescue victims and prevent further attacks on communities.
The security meeting also underscored the importance of ensuring that the forthcoming elections are conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
Tinubu's administration has maintained that restoring security remains a priority, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
