Man Utd Pose to 'Complete Eriksen Transfer' in January

Man Utd will reportedly launch a bid to land Christian Eriksen's signature in January.

The Tottenham midfielder is into the final year of his contract with the north Londoners, and looks likely to leave the club.

Eriksen pushed for a move away from Spurs but failed to garner any concrete interest from Europe's elite teams.

Now United are hoping to capitalise on his contract situation by signing him in a cut-price deal.

The Sun report that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Eriksen to replace Jesse Lingard in the attacking midfield role at Old Trafford.

United chiefs were willing to fork out the £70 million asking price for the Dane, but cooled their interest when it became evident he preferred a move to Real Madrid .

With Madrid's interest not forthcoming however, Eriksen has been stuck in no-mans land at Spurs.

The 27-year-old would rather his current club not go without earning a fee for his services, opening up a potential switch to United in the winter transfer window.

Whilst Eriksen had his heart set on a move to Madrid, he was flattered by United's interest.

Any move would no doubt be for a smaller fee than his previous asking price, given he can enter into pre-contract negotiations for a free transfer from January.

And if his recent comments are anything to go by, he still feels his best move would be out of the Tottenham exit door.

Eriksen was quizzed on whether it was wrong of him to announce he was seeing a new challenge back in June.

Speaking to Ekstra Bladet , he replied: "No it wasn't [wrong] but it is football and you never know what happens in football and many things always come into play.

"I wish I could decide just as in the Football Manager [game] but unfortunately I can't.

“I don’t read much of what is written. And now I have been involved for many years, where there have been many rumours every year. But it’s clear that it’s been a little more violent this year because my contract is about to expire.

“I know a lot of people are interested in where to play. That’s the way it is. This is how it is in a top club if you have done well. There will always be rumours.”
