Body of Benchers Pass Vote of Confidence on Olanipekun

 Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN has been given the clear mandate to continue as the chairman of the body of benchers

Reports emanating from at its emergency meeting held earlier today, Tuesday, January 24, 2023, the body of benchers is said to have passed a vote of confidence on  Chief Olanipekun, SAN.

This came on the heel of several calls for his resignation by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Y.C. Maikyau, OON, SAN amongst others over allegations of misconduct levelled against an erstwhile partner in the Chairman’s law firm.

Insider sources have it that the Benchers insisted that the Body lacks the vires to reconsider the finding contained in the Initial Member Direction of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, which had earlier held that the partners of the firm have no case to answer in respect of the allegation of misconduct against the erstwhile partner.

Reports also have it that the Body resolved to set up a committee to look into reports of electoral malpractices surrounding the last NBA general election.
